Hudson River Film Exposure
Bridging analog photography and New York City’s coastline’s chemical makeup and composition
Originally for an NYU course titled “New York City Coastlines”, this piece explores the intersection between the process of 35mm film developing and water properties. I wanted to understand how our waste and consumption, which inevitably end up in our oceans, can be seen through film photography. Upon further research, the sample from which I pulled has a high level of enterococcus present, microplastics, and food scraps. Uncertain what specifically impacted my roll but, but nonetheless, the results were distorted and funky.
